There's something so proper about a Northern Bobwhite. Between the neatly marked face and his stately posture, Mr. Bingley looks as though he might politely introduce himself before wandering off. I loved painting the intricate feather patterns that make Northern Bobwhites so beautifully camouflaged, especially the crisp white face that gives them such unmistakable character. Despite their quiet nature, these little quail are surprisingly social, spending much of the year traveling together in family groups called coveys.
